Spread the love

It’s that time again, spring! I honestly can’t even believe we’re in spring again already! Soon it’ll be summer… pool days, sun kissed, fruity popsicles water parks & more! Before we get to summer, lets do a little spring cleaning! Whether you want to declutter or not, spring cleaning is a must and will help you to declutter afterwards.

My biggest tip for spring cleaning is take a week to do it! Don’t overwhelm yourself, especially if you live in a bigger house! Being a busy mama I dread spring cleaning because it takes forever having to stop and get snacks, go for potty breaks, feed the baby, and so much more but I always feel so much better after. I include A free Check List Printable as well to make it a little easier for you (and myself)

Front Door/Garage Door, Living Room.

You’ll want to start at the 3 most used spaces. The front door, the garage door and the living room. People coming in and out constantly. Tracking dirt, dirty hands on the doors etc. Wipe down the doors and handles, clean your welcome mat if you have one outside the front door, it’s the first line of defense to keeping dirt off your floors inside! Living room as well. My front door is right by my living room and you have to walk through the living room to get anywhere else. So I always pull out couch, sweep, mop, wash down couch and clean coffee table.

Dust all shelves and drawers, cabinets, fans, etc.

Most people don’t dust everyday this is a must! Dust can accumulate so fast and it can really be gross! Start by removing all the items of each drawers, shelves, etc. Then wipe down with a microfiber cloth. If you’re feeling extra productive, use a cleaner and scrub away to get it extra sparkly. Wipe down walls, fans, doors, light switches and even vacuum your closet since shoes can easily track in dirt and grime. Do this one room at a time, maybe one day at a time since it can be very time consuming!

Store Seasonal Clothing High Up!

If you’re like me, you like to free up space in your closet and drawers. With summer coming so fast, the need for sweaters, jeans, boots, scarfs, etc are coming to an end. So easily free up some space & stick those in totes, clothing bags etc and put them high up and out of the way. Not only does this free up space for all those cute spring/summer clothes but they’ll be easy to get to when you need them next fall!

Clean those carpets!

Whether you hire someone or do it yourself carpets definitely collect a lot of dirt, body oil and germs. That means they need a good deep clean to get them ready for another year of wear! Carpets, couches, etc.

Give those bathrooms a GOOD DEEP CLEAN!

Clearly bathrooms are also a very very used part of the house and it can get gross fast, especially if you have kids. I clean my bathrooms every few days because my kids are just a hot mess but I also scrub and scrub and clean under the sinks and soak when I do my spring cleaning. This helps a ton and I feel so good after! Wipe down toilet, clean inside toilet, wipe counters, dust, clean out cabinets, refill toilet paper, paper towel (or hand towels) Wipe downs walls, shower, door, and handle! Spray before walking out to give it a fresh smell.

Have A Routine! Don’t OVERWHELM yourself!

Having a routine is crucial for this. If you are like me you do a lot of decluttering throughout the year in itself but your house doesn’t get a deep clean as often as you like. So when you start to clean for spring you might get distracted and want to start on something else. Have a routine and stick to it! This will help you get everything done and NOT BE OVERWHELMED AND QUIT! If you’re a busy mama like me this can feel like a huge job in itself so getting started is never easy (let’s be real cause i love to clean but I dread spring cleaning)
