DIY MUG HOLDER

Spread the love

I’ve teamed up with some of my blogger friends to bring you a home decor DIY train! Check out mine & then I’ll link all of theirs at the bottom!

Ok so let me start off by saying…

I’m not crafty at all.

I wish I was one of those pinterest moms that did all the crafts but i’m just not and that’s okay also.

One of my favorite things i’ve done is my DIY mug holder. Me and my step dad worked on this together and it was so fun! I knew I wanted to make my own because I love the look of the rustic ones and I didn’t want to spend over $100 on one! So, I made my own. It was actually pretty easy.

I think the hardest part was the dang measuring but it’s all based on you and how many mugs you want it to hold. Mine holds 14 and I think it’s the perfect size.

What you’ll need.

-Wood, lots of wood. I went to home depot and had them cut mine for me. I got two for support on each side and then 4 pieces for the hooks for mugs.

Stain. (I wanted it to be a dark rustic look but you can do white, grey or really whatever color you want.

Stencils to write what you want on top ( I borrowed some from my Aunt) You can find those at walmart, micheals, etc.

Hooks. I got some hooks at home depot as well and spray painted them black.

Nails. (I’ve seen people use other stuff to put it on the wall but I wanted to make sure it was staying up and not going anywhere cause WELL KIDS.

Screw driver or power tool. (Power tool is so much easier)

HOW TO MAKE

First you want to measure all your wood to whatever size you want it to be. The two side pieces you’ll obviously want to be longer and then the middle ones all the same size. (We had all of ours cut at home depot so if you can do that, do it!)

My measurements *

THE SUPPORT ON EACH SIDE ARE 38 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide.

The top and bottom cross boards are 28 inches long and 6 inches wide.

*The other cross boards are all different lengths*

Then once you have them measured you want to paint. You can do white, black, or any color you want. I stained all my wood and spray painted the hooks black.

Then lay it flat down and put all the pieces how you want them. Measure to make sure it’s all even.

Start Screwing nails on.

Once you have it all screwed together and secure, you want to lay the hook where you want them..

Make sure they aren’t right under each other or you won’t be able to really hang mugs unless you have the cross boards pretty far apart. (Give it some space)

I did 4 hooks, then 3, then 4, then 3. Once you have those placed where you want and double or even triple check them you are ready to screw those on.

Once you have those on

Done!

You can now hang it wherever you’d like and hang those mugs!

I hope this helped a little bit and I can’t wait to see yours!
