Happy 4th Birthday To My Sweet Baby Boy. (Tips on how to take your own birthday photos)

Spread the love

If you follow me on Instagram then you know I love taking photos, I’m not a photographer by any mean but I definitely have an eye for the perfect photo and I’m 100% a perfectionist.

My photographer moved away so since then I’ve just been taking birthday photos myself and I love doing it! I may go a little overboard but that’s okay! My sweet baby boy turns 4 January 26th & my mama heart just can’t take it.

I always pictured myself with one boy and one girl. When he came along I thought we were done but little did I know we weren’t. I’m so glad because watching him become a big brother has been the most magical thing ever. He’s so sweet, so kind and so gentle. He’s constantly asking to hold his baby sister, kissing her head and just showing her so much love. It’s just the sweetest.

Being a Mother is so hard, it’s truly the best but also so incredibly difficult. I got pregnant with him at a hard time but he truly adds a piece to our puzzle that we needed and we didn’t even know it. He’s such a mamas boy but also dad’s best friend. His laugh will just melt your entire heart into a puddle on the ground, his witty little self makes you almost pee your pants sometimes, he’s seriously hilarious and I love it! He has such a bold personality but he’s still so gentle and so sweet. His curls make your soul scream, his sweet big brown eyes could hypnotize you. Those eyelashes, oh my heavens those eyelashes!! Every single female is jealous of those.

This boy is seriously beyond perfect. He looks just like his dad when his dad was a baby. I always wanted a boy first but I 100% wouldn’t change a thing because having him as the middle child fits him so well. He’s the crazy one, the one with NO CHILL, the one who gives you a heart attack at least 20 times a day. He’s just like his mama, the middle children are crazy. At least to me… haha

So I took my crazy fearless child out and did a photoshoot for his 4th birthday. I seriously love how his personality really comes out here! He’s beyond perfect! So when I did these photos myself I had a vision.. I love being able to be creative and do what I want. It’s so much easier than finding a photographer and trying to give her your vision. (I really miss my old photographer though cause she knew me so well)

These are just some of the photos I took! I wanted to share like 100 but that would take me forever. (This took me hours haha) It was so fun and he loved just being his crazy little self and running around. I can’t believe my sweet boy is 4 already. It really feels like I was in the hospital and just had him!

Below i’ll share a few tips to taking your own photos for your kiddos birthdays.

-always always plan ahead clearly. I did these in about a week. They could of come out better but I’m really happy with how they did come out.

-find a spot and stick to it each year. I love doing this because it really shows how much they’ve grown each year. The original spot I did I can’t do anymore because it was a clubhouse and someone bought it to live in (strange? Yes lol.)

-make sure to do it right before sunset. Doing it in the middle of the day the lighting is wayyyyy to harsh. They’ll come out too bright and its hard to fix.

-make sure to bring backup lenses, batteries, lens cleaner, anything you might need.

-make sure to take a million and one photos. Most likely a lot wont come out how you wanted them to. I took about 500 (oops) and only kept about 100.

-have fun with it! Nothing will go perfect but they always turn out perfect in your eyes!
