Pistols or Pearls?

Spread the love

Imagine knowing from the second you found out you were pregnant it was a boy, then being told “IT’S A GIRL” and knowing it was wrong.

Ever since I had my daughter I knew I wanted another baby, I wanted Aubrey to have a sibling! Before I even got pregnant, I was pinterest-ing all kinds of baby themes! You know that crazy thing all is girls do?!? Yeah that was me! No shame!

So fast forward to finding out I WAS PREGNANT with baby #2! I just felt really off! I knew I had to be pregnant and sure enough I peed on a stick and the brightest positive popped up within seconds! (We were shocked but we were so excited and knew it was meant to be)

May 24th 6:31 AM

I went bananas (what expecting mama doesn’t) I just started finding all the cute things and making boards! (Follow me on Pinterest) Aubrey was SO excited to be a big sister but she couldn’t quite make up her mind if she wanted a baby brother or baby sister! It changed almost everyday! She was just the sweetest though and I know no matter which gender this baby was, we’d all love him/her just as much.

She always said it was HER baby (LOL)

We had our first ultrasound at 8 weeks. First time seeing our little bean (a day after daddy’s birthday)

Hearing the heartbeat and confirming everything was ok was such a good feeling! I felt really good so far! It was the opposite of my pregnancy with Aubrey! (I was sick day in and day out with her)

Around 15 weeks pregnant we paid to get an ultrasound done to find out the gender early since my doctors office wouldn’t do it until 20 weeks (I now understand why so if you are thinking about getting one done early, DON’T. LOL)

My husband told me we should just wait and I wish i agreed but it’s a funny story now! We went to the ultrasound on the morning of August 9th 2017. We told them not to tell us the gender. The entire ultrasound she kinda struggled a bit trying to confirm the gender. That made me super nervous!

I just knew in my gut, this baby was a boy. Everything screamed boy to me. I can’t explain that feeling, I just knew though. We went ahead and had them put the gender in an envelope, we got together with friends and family for a huge gender reveal and to our surprise OUT COMES PINK SMOKE! You should have seen my face! I was shocked they actually thought this baby was a girl! So, you can say I wasn’t convinced. Then, I took one look at the ultrasound and just knew my gut was right and it was a boy.

Can you imagine the struggle of not buying anything for 5 weeks?!? I mean come on, us girls go crazy.. especially when it’s a baby, Everyone really  thought I was crazy and in denial (LOL) It was honestly the hardest thing ever! I wanted to shop so bad! (I knew I’d just be returning it all LOL)

We went in for our 20 week anatomy scan with my OB on September 13th, 2017. (He was my OB with aubrey also so i knew he was going to be sure to give us the correct answer!)

So he’s checking everything out and making sure my little is healthy and growing, then all of a sudden as he’s saying all his doctor things(which i should know in and out because hello i’m pretty much meredith grey), BUT he randomly throws in “oh and here we have his little balls” my husband about fell over! Immediately had tears in his eyes, jaw dropped, just shocked he was finally getting a JR and had that confirmation. I had been telling him since our gender reveal that it wasn’t a girl and he was just like ehh. (them men i swear)

I wish i had someone taking photos or a video! It was great! We had the family all here for this ultrasound as well so everyone just starts crying and is shocked minus aubrey, she says “This isn’t FAIR, I’m going home” and walked out ? It was the funniest thing, she was so indecisive on which she wanted, then being told it was a girl, then it’s a boy! She was upset for about 3 hours! (Oh the joy, kids)

Everyone who follows me was waiting for an update if she was still a she or not. We decided to be extra and do some photos to announce our little lady was definitely a little man! It was so fun seeing everyone’s reactions!

Here’s some photos from our photo shoot!

(Ultrasound from being told he was a she then again at 20 weeks when he was clearly a he)

He’s now almost 2 years old and definitely a boy! We laugh about it now! You always hear about these stories and never think it would happen to you! Until it does ? Moral of the story- I wish I listened to my husband (hopefully he doesn’t see this) BUT it is one funny story to tell!
