I was only 17 when I got pregnant and when I had my first baby I had no idea what I was doing. I mean do any of us really know what we’re doing? Even at 30… She was my miracle and if you never got to read that blog click here on her birth story. It was terrifying and amazing at the same time.
Aubrey really helped me grow up. She’s shaped me into who I am today and has taught me so much not only about motherhood, but about myself. Being 17 and pregnant was rough. I tell you though the moment I laid eyes on my sweet girl it was over. I was in love and I knew that no matter what I’d do whatever it took to be a good mother. I’ve grown so much since that day and I continue to grow everyday because of her.
My sweet baby is 7 and that’s just so close to 10 and the next thing I know she’ll be off to college and then getting married and having babies of her own. It sure does fly by doesn’t it? They always tell you when you’re younger that time goes by so much faster when you have a baby but you don’t believe it, until you do.
I’ve never been so sure of something in my life though, I knew I wanted to be a mother. I wanted to have one boy and one girl. (Now I want more ironically) She is my best friend and my entire world. The love I have for that girl is indescribable. As i’m sure any mama reading this knows that kind of love.
It also brings me so much pain, worry, and sometimes even guilt. Am I doing my best? Am I being my best? How am I going to forever protect her in this world? What I do know is i’ll do everything in my power to make sure she’s raised right. She’s strong, independent, doesn’t take no crap from anyone yet loves with her whole heart.
I can’t believe my sweet baby girl is 7… Thank you for making me who I am, for shaping me, for letting me be your mama, for choosing me. I love you so much baby girl and I hope your birthday is everything you’ve dreamed of and more.
You keep shining sweet girl. You don’t take shit from anyone. You make sure to go after your dreams even if they seem impossible. You know your worth and never forget it. Always be yourself my babe. You are so much light in this dark world.
