5 Tips To Have A Minimalist Christmas Plus A Free Budgeting Printable!

Spread the love

Holidays are my favorite and they are so so magical as well. They can also be so very overwhelming. Which is why I’m putting together this blog so you can have a magical time this Christmas. With 2020 being full of disappointment, you want to make sure you enjoy the holidays this year.

This year be more about the magic and less about being perfect. Don’t compare yourself. It will only stress you out more.

Budget

You always want to have a budget, this includes christmas decor, shopping, cards, etc. You don’t want to overdue. You want to keep is simple and stick to your budget. (Free printable below to help) Budgeting is going to look different for everyone. It’s okay to go a little over or even a little bit under your budget. What matters most is you stick to your plan and keep is minimal. I tend to buy a few christmas presents every check. I even start christmas shopping in January to save loads of money and be prepared.

Plan

I use to be a wing it girl, but i’m 100% a planner now. I have anxiety so having a plan and sticking to it, is so important to me. Sometimes things can get messy and that’s okay. It’s life, I mean right? Having a plan can definitely help you feel less stressed and then you can enjoy the magical holidays a bit more. Enjoy the moments, stress less. These years go by so fast!

Intentional Gifts

I’m so so bad at this. I’ll give a gift and not even think twice. Make sure you are only giving gifts that will be used. It could be a frame, a blanket, something that will get good use and won’t be thrown away after the holidays. Not only that, but the amount of gifts you give. 500 gifts might look fancy but is it really? Do your kids really need all of those toys? I tend to purge the playroom before the holidays. It really helps me to know what they have and what they need (or want I should say cause we don’t NEED anything)

I always give new toys but also new clothes, shoes, socks, underwear, the things they do really need. After all, kids grow so fast and that’s always going to be a need.

Be intentional with your gifts.

Minimal Decorations

Last year, I went crazy with decor. It actually stressed me out. Seeing all of the beautiful homes on instagram made me want to do so much. Honestly though (that’ll be my next tip) I love the minimal look, not only does it really make you enjoy the little things but it’s less clean up when the holidays are over. My tree is very simple but boho which is 100% my style and it makes me so happy inside. My kids have a tree in the playroom and my daughter has a small one in her room. We tend to go simple and we love it that way. By all means if you want to deck every part of your home go for it. Do whatever makes the sun shine for you. Minimal is definitely something that makes me happy and less stressed.

The biggest one…

Do not Compare!

Whatever you do, don’t compare. Do not let someone else steal your joy. Your holiday cheer. We are all different. We all have different budgets, different families, different homes, different minds. Comparison is a thief. The holidays aren’t about someone else’s happiness, it’s all about yours. Do you love your house? Do you love your decor? You bought it for a reason right? So, take it in and let the holidays shine upon you. Love what you do and throw away what you don’t. Don’t let that picture on instagram make you feel less. It’s just a picture, remember that.

Until next time, cheyenne.

I love your ideas to make stuff minimalist. Sometimes we can get caught up in over the top stuff so keeping it simple can still keep it magical
